Problems with finding WINZData

Users often phone us because they have changed their computer system and cannot seem to find their old WINZData.mdb file, ie the one with all their data in it. Or even worse, they have so many copies of WINZData spread through their network that they no longer know which is the real one.

To avoid getting in this situation, take a note of the location while your system is going well. Details appear at the top left of the main WINZ screen, and also (with more detail) at top left on the General tab on the Administration Workbench. Copy these details down, or just print a screen dump.

How do you print a screen?

  1. Have the relevant information on screen
  2. Press the PrtScr button - somewhere up there at top right on your keyboard. This puts the screen into the computer's memory.
  3. Open a new document in Word
  4. Press Ctrl-V and the page should appear in the document.
  5. Write the date on the document, then print it.
  6. Save it if you want, but filesize is usually 2 Mbytes or so, so don't save too many!
