Public Health Grading 2003 Document Released

On 16 October 2003 we received a copy of the finalised "Public Health Grading of Community Drinking-Water Supplies 2003". You can download a copy of this document from the Ministry of Health website

Because the 2003 Public Health Grading procedure has only recently been made public, the necessary changes to WINZ will be incorporated in WINZ 5.1 rather than about-to-be released WINZ 5.0.

It is likely that the 2004 printed Register of Community Drinking-Water Supplies will remain fully based on the current (1993 Grading algorithms) document, but that supply grading reassessments will get underway before mid-2004. Actual timings of the various processes will be determined by the Ministry of Health, who will have many things to coordinate at that stage. These include training of drinking-water assessors, incorporating legislative changes in the strategy, and familiarising water suppliers with the requirements. It is planned to release WINZ 5.1 as part of this process so that regrading can take place.
